Newborn Puppy’s Eyes and Ears

by puppy on September 11, 2007

If you are a dog breeder, or just happen to have some newborn puppies in the house, keep a double-check on your puppy’s eyes and ears.

When a puppy is born, it’s eyes and ears remain sealed for a period of 10-15 days. Generally the eyes and ears begin to open when the puppy begins to stand. If your puppy’s eyes appear unhealthy and/or still remain closed after 17 days consult your veterinarian at once, as there may be a health issue at hand.
