Dog Communication

This is really an interesting topic that I love to talk about with dog owners. Everyone wishes their dog would convey in words exactly what they wanting. This really is not possible, but there is ways that your dog can tell you exactly what they are wanting from you without verbal words.  Body language is really the key piece to the puzzle. Once you have figured this piece out you are far ahead of the game and your dog is more grateful than you know. I know when we first got our puppy it was really hard to figure out what he was saying to us. After time and living with him on a daily basis it became easier and easier. This is something that evolves over time.

Most dog owners are quick to tell you that their dog speaks to them. That’s no surprise. Dogs are very adept at communicating their wants and needs, but only if their owner is alert to any messages they’re sending.

 

Dogs don’t usually have a large verbal repertoire, although they can make a few different sounds. If your dog is a watchdog, you’d be familiar with the alert bark. Other dogs, such as my own whippet, almost sing when they want to express themselves.
