Puppy Blog of Names, Breeds and More.

A lot of people always ask the question, or have the misconception, that allowing a puppy dog to lick you, or give ‘puppy kisses’, can and/or will make you sick.
Generally, the only time you could become sick from a dog, is if you come into contact with it’s poop, or from a dog that has rabies. Although it is possible for you to get germs from a healthy pup, it is not very likely.

Understand, this is not a jab at all veterinarians. I believe there are a lot that do care, but I also believe there are some that are just in it for the money.
Here is a little letter that I had to write to the Pennsylvania Veterinary Assocation, in regards to the local vet refusing me to be able to order my pet’s prescription online, for a lot less money:

If you have ever gotten a puppy as a child, you might already know there are some things that kids and puppies have in common. Neither one has any experience with the other. If you teach kids how to live with a new puppy, you will find that they grow up to love and adore each other and form a bond that is never broken. Some effort on your part as a parent will be to teach the rules to follow with the new puppy.

It is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. It can be found in many animals and occasionally in humans, but is most commonly associated with dogs, and is common in many dog breeds, particularly the larger breeds.

When your dog barks, it can mean a variety of things depending on the tone of the bark and the surrounding circumstances.
An excited alert bark may welcome a familiar person who is approaching. A deep bark combined with a growl may be a warning to a stranger approaching. Your puppy dog may even use a short quick bark to alert you of a need of some kind, like having to go outside to the backyard and needs you to open the door, for example.

Supplements for your puppy dog’s health:
You may or may not have heard about dog supplements these days, but one thing is for sure…they are all the rage.
You see, dogs have certain dietary and nutritional needs that they just don’t get from typical dog foods and treats these days. Years ago, more people, especially because there were so many farmers, fed their puppy dogs a more natural and healthy diet of fruits, vegetables and meats.

All dogs, especially puppies, need to chew. It’s natural for a puppy to investigate objects with their mouth. It’s their way of finding out about the world. In addition, while puppies are growing up, they will go through teething stages. In order to make sure that you puppy is chewing on items that they are supposed to chew on and not your shoes, rug, or furniture, be sure to supply her with plenty of chew toys. You can select from nylon and rubber bones or rawhides.
