The inspiration for her starting down the path of Pet Photography was simple, to capture and document the last days of her dog Norma before she passed. That labor of love grew into a new passion, and people began to take notice in a big way. Her ability to capture the expression and emotion of her canine subjects really sets her apart.

Intelligence testing for puppies

A dog is a very socially advanced animal and enjoys living with humans, and can easily learn what’s acceptable and what’s not. As with humans, each individual has a different personality and behaviours .
Carrying out intelligence tests for puppies can be done for a number of reasons, either to test an individual dog’s intelligence, or to find out whether he has a suitable temperament for a particular job or environment.

If you are looking for a puppy that is skilled in certain areas and is adaptable in an unusual environment, then you should always consider carrying out an intelligence test.

It is important to learn how dogs can be trained and how their minds work.

Some studies have suggested that most dogs do not have a great deal of independent intelligence, which consequently means that working out problems or finding solutions can be hard. However, breeds such as the Australian Cattle Dog or Border Collie are often able to think for themselves when they are working livestock.

Dogs learn best by example, either from humans or from other dogs, and they learn quickly through repetition. When shown what to do, a very high percentage will pick up the task or follow a command very easily. This is particularly the case when they are rewarded for following that command. Dogs also have great visual and hearing abilities, and can even learn names of objects.

What is intelligence testing, as it applies to puppies? This is when you examine a dog’s individual behaviour traits, and it’s capacity to learn. You are testing his mood and how he responds in different situations. It’s important to check a dog’s adaptability and attention span to see if he is suitable for your needs. These are basic tests that are used to test small children, but have been somewhat adapted to suit dogs.

For owners who do not have any particular needs when it comes to their dog’s intelligence, it can still be fun to see how smart their four legged family member really is. There are many different IQ tests on the internet which present around ten various tasks so that the owner can see gauge just how clever their dog is. These tests will go through simple memory, social, and language tasks and can easily be conducted at home.

A great deal of research has been put into dog intelligence testing , because dogs play an important role in professions such as the army, or the police force. These tests are very helpful when used as part of the selection process, to match the right dog to the right human partner.

For most of us, intelligence isn’t all that important, and the results of intelligence testing wouldn’t play a big role in our choice of canine companion. Our dog is our friend, our companion, our confidante, and they don’t need a great deal of intelligence to do that well. All they need is to know how to love us.

Most customers choose the Innotek IUC-4100 system because it is an extremely reliable system . The collar is comfortable and an appropriate size – not too big and cumbersome. It uses rechargeable batteries, and its feature list includes the ability to let you know that collar has been fitted to your dog properly.

The 4100 collar is actually lighter and smaller than many other full sized collars. It fits comfortably aroudnd your dog’s neck, and doesn’t have any controls on it. This means that the collar is waterproof and will last a long time. The collar is well suited to dogs that are heavier than 12 pounds. Smaller dogs benefit more from the PetSafe Little Dog system.

Another advantage of the Innotek IUC-4100 system is that the collar is rechargeable. It recharges very quickly, and is ready to use again in less than 2 hours. When it is completely charged, you don’t need to recharge it for around 1 month, and the fact that it uses rechargeable batteries will save you money. The collars have been known to work for at least 5 years.

Any collar won’t do its job if it isn’t fitted properly, and this is where the Innotek IUC-4100 system comes into its own. It can be difficult for a collar to be effective on a dog with a long coat, and in fact one reason your dog may not respond to a collar is that it is a poor fit and the prongs don’t actually contact his skin. This Innotek collar will beep when it is correctly fitted, so you have no doubt that it is going to do its job

As already mentioned, you won’t find any controls on the collar itself. All controls can be found in the control box. This has advantages and disadvantages. It means that the collar is often more durable, but it also means that all dogs who are controlled by this system have to have the same settings. This isn’t a problem if your dogs are similar in size, but if you have a German Shepherd dog, and a Shih Tzu, for example, you’re going to run into problems.

The transmitter box has several basic controls. The boundary width adjustment knob will determine how close your dog can get to your boundary wire. You can also set the correction strength, and the strength will increase as your dog gets closer to your boundary wire. You can also alter the field size, so you can install this unit on properties of up to 25 acres. Lastly, there is a battery backup facility, so you can instal some AA batteries to keep the collar working in case of power failure.

The Innotek 4100 is very flexible. As well as being very effective as a boundary fence, it can also be used inside your home to keep you dog off the couch, or out of a specific area of your home. It can also be used to protect smaller areas of your yard, such as a fishpond, from being investigated by your dog.

The Innotek 4100 system is versatile, effective and reliable. It does have limitations, for example if you have small dogs, or if you have dogs that are quite different in size. Hoever, for most people, its fitted collar and rechargeable batteries, and its flexibility to be able to be used indoors and out makes it an ideal choice for most people.

Dog Fence DIY reviews the Perimeter Technologies Wifi Fence, a new wireless dog fence system. They are apparently not at all impressed by the results. Their complaints about the wifi fence are that it has a very inconsistent boundary and that the system does not work well with obstacles. So apparently the Wifi has all the same problems the old PetSafe Wireless has. Oh well, I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same. Check out the video review below.

When you first get a dog you need to think about their safety when playing outside. They do not know that the moving car in the road could really hurt them or a stranger off the street might want to take them home. I know it is sad to think about these things but it is something we have to touch on just to make sure we are giving our dog the safest home possible. One of my co-workers wrote a really helpful article on which type of fence to choose from. It goes through the pro’s and con’s of each so you can make the final decision on your own. I really enjoyed reading it and thought it would be helpful to you as well; especially when you are shopping for a fence.

Here is the article from Robert Holmes from Dog Fence DIY:

Most dog owners with a nice big yard want their dog to take full advantage and enjoy the freedom of being able to roam free.

But you also want to keep them safe. There are three main options to consider, a traditional fence, an electric underground fence, or a trolley run. This article will take you through all three options and show you the pros and cons of each.

The first option is a traditional physical fence. In many respects this is the most secure option. A solid fence that is high enough and goes down deep enough will keep your dog safely contained and is the first choice of many dog owners.

Click on the link above for the full article on the different fences.
